How much is a shoot with you?

Our mission is to give every client a customized, glamorous, and confidence boosting experience.  If you are looking for “just a couple of pics” then we might not be the best fit for your needs. Most of our clients choose to spend between $300 and $1500 for their session, makeup, and product.

How far in advance do I need to book?

I suggest booking your shoot at least 4 weeks ahead, 6 weeks ahead leading up to Christmas and Valentine’s Day. If you decide last minute that you absolutely want to shoot with us, contact us at simplyluminousphotos@gmail.com and we will accommodate you.

Do I have to be a model or have experience to work with you?

Absolutely not. As a matter of fact, most of the ladies that we work with have never done a shoot or have any modeling experience whatsoever. All of our “models” are girl next door or soccer mom types who are just looking to take a moment for themselves and do something to make them feel confident, glamorous and sexy for a day, or to create an unforgettable gift for themselves or their significant other.

Where do you shoot?

We mostly shoot in a cozy studio in Woodinville. We’ll provide the address and directions once we've scheduled your date. Though our studio is in a rental location, we still prefer to stay low key.  If you prefer, we can book a session at the location of your choosing.  A room at a cool hotel or even your residence can be a great option for a shoot.

Do you have gift cards?

Yes!  We have gift cards available in any denomination or shoot package.  These cards are perfect for a gal that has been considering treating herself to a shoot, and even for a bridal or baby shower gift!  Gift card purchases are not refundable and expire after 8 months.  Please don’t procrastinate on booking your shoot on a gift card!

Do you offer airbrushing?

Yes we do! Every photo that you purchase is slightly airbrushed so that your finished images highlight your natural beauty. Stretch marks, cellulite, and blemishes… we all have our trouble spots, but those things can easily be edited for your finished product.  All the photos you see on the site are slightly retouched, so your focus is on you, not your trouble spots!  During your viewing session, you will get to see a little bit of the retouching magic we do.  A note however about tan lines… Tan lines are very difficult to airbrush, so if you have them, we suggest getting a spray tan to even things out a little.

Should I go tanning?

This one is an important one.  If you use a tanning bed, please stop tanning at least one week before you shoot.  Not only is using tanning beds dangerous, (We will spare you the lecture), they make your skin look extremely red on camera.  There is nothing we can do to correct this.  So please, please, please don’t go tanning before your shoot!  If you feel that your skin need a little color, then we suggest getting a light to medium spray tan a day or two before your shoot.  Be careful not to get your hands streaky, this is something else we can’t fix in Photoshop.

Do I have to bring my own outfits?

We definitely suggest that you bring some of your favorite pieces from your own wardrobe such as jeans and a sexy top, dresses, pretty slips, as well as some lingerie basics like strapless bra and nude thong. Your outfits don’t need to be extravagant, a simple bra and panty set is perfect! In addition, shoes and accessories can add an extra edge to your images. It also gives us an idea of your personality and the look that you want your images to convey. Both make a difference in the finished product. We have a brochure to help you with some ideas and styles of lingerie that will be great for your body type.  If you need ideas or inspiration, you can look and some of our Pinterest boards and our website to see what past clients have done.

What if I don’t know how to pose?

No worries! We don’t expect you to know how to pose! Everyone has different levels of experience at this, so we will walk you through the entire process. We do suggest that you practice some facial expressions before your shoot.  You’ll feel silly, but definitely try the “smile with your eyes” in a mirror!  During your shoot, we will direct you through posing, where to look, and what to do. We’ll do a variety of poses for each outfit so you will have a chance to do a little bit of everything.

Can I do my own makeup for the shoot?

Make up for photography is extremely different from makeup for everyday or even a night out. Even “natural” makeup requires a lot of skill and expertise to apply. Having your makeup done with our awesome makeup artist, Sandra, contributes to the overall look and feel of the finished photograph and is absolutely necessary for your shoot. You can contact Sandra at any time to discuss particulars and are free to bring pictures from magazines for ideas. Most of our session fees includes 1 makeup look and false eyelashes.  If you want a little more variety in your makeup, you can opt to add a makeup change to your session for $50.  We can create anything you can dream up, from natural to all out glamorous!  Remember, this is an investment in you, so every little thing should be absolutely perfect!

When do I get to see my proofs?

After your session, we will choose a date and time, usually within 7-14 days to review your photos and choose the goodies you would like to order.  If you have a long drive (a lot of our clients travel a significant distance to see us), we can do your viewing session on the same day as your shoot. (Just let us know in advance).  Once you choose your favorites for editing, it will take about a couple of days to receive your final prints or products.  If you are in a hurry to get your finals, there will be a rush fee applied to your order.

Can I bring my boyfriend, husband, fiancé to my shoot?

We highly advise against it. Having an all-female staff is part of what makes shooting with us special. We have allowed women to bring their significant other in the past, but the shoots never seemed to carry the same energy.  You can definitely bring a female friend with you to your shoot if you feel you need some moral support!  Just make sure she’s fun!

Can drink during our session?

We will provide a little refreshment, but nothing hard. We don’t want to be responsible for someone drinking and driving. In addition, one drink may loosen you up, but more always will be seen in the pictures. Your eyes get glassy once the bright lights hit you and the poses tend to get sloppy very quickly once the alcohol starts flowing.  So we keep it light and very little.

What if I don’t want my pictures to appear on your website or marketing materials?

No problem. A lot of women are so thrilled with the outcome that they are proud to have their images displayed. However, there are also a lot of clients that don’t want their co-workers and families to see them, or simply want to keep their experience private. We totally understand this; your privacy is extremely important to us. In order for us to display your images, you have to sign a consent form. If you don’t sign it, they can’t be displayed.

Why is a shoot so expensive? I only want a couple of shots!

This is a question I answer a lot. There are a lot of “photographers” out there that have no experience in shooting real women the way that we do. Just because someone has an expensive digital camera and has a copy of Photoshop, doesn’t necessarily make them a professional. Believe me, I have been there! Each shoot we do require time, skill, instruction, consulting with my client, set up, the hours of shooting, time spent retouching, designing albums and ordering prints. There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes for each and every session.  Again if you are just looking for a couple of shots, then we're probably not the ones for you.  We believe in giving every client an unforgettable experience. The end result is your beauty and confidence captured for you to look at forever!
